// Sweaters

Golden Rules

  1. No Christmas Sweaters

    Unless you are going to an ironic Christmas sweater party, then do not under any circumstances wear a Christmas sweater.

  2. Hand wash or dry clean your sweaters

    This should be common knowledge, washing machines will destroy the fine knitting that some women in a third world country has done. Also, do not put the sweater in a dryer, or you will be giving the sweater to your little brother or sister (it will shrink).

Standard “Can’t-Go-Wrong” Suggestions

Please note: the items listed below are girl-approved examples. Although each item is linked to a vendor that sells the item, we’re not advocating any exact make, model, or vendor. We highly recommend vendors which offer free in-store returns or free shipping on certain orders.

V-Neck Sweaters

Modern Amusement - Riva Reversible V Neck Sweater (Mariner) - Apparel
Ben Hogan - Standards V-Neck Sweater (Cream) - Apparel
Signature Merino Wool Patterned V-Neck Sweater
Moschino - V-Neck Monochromatic Knit (Navy) - Apparel
Jed - Joseph V-Neck Solid w/ Tipping (Olive/Chocolate) - Apparel

More versatile then the regular collar sweater, a v-neck sweater lends itself to a dress shirt/sweater combo that is a simple, yet effective way to look presentable. If the v-neck opening is quite deep, add on a tie to avoid showing too much dress shirt. Can also be paired with an undershirt for a casual look. Make sure to get a few different colors to add variety to your wardrobe.

Cardigans

Men: Cable-knit cardigan sweater - charcoal heather
French Connection - Bearcat Cardigan (Charcoal) - Apparel
Sean John - Stripe Cardigan (PM Black/Cream) - Apparel

A bit tricky to pull off, cardigans are no longer for reserved for old men and Mr. Rogers, paired with a nice dress shirt (tie optional), a cardigan can bring out the classy scotch drinker in you. Stick to solid dark colored types.
